La gratuité des musées et des monuments : qu’en pensent les publics en France ?

2015

The question of free admission has generated numerous debates, highlighting various viewpoints of professionals involved in Culture, effects on the measured volumes of attendance and on the management of museums and monuments. One question has been left aside: that of the reception of free admissionmeasures by the destined audiences. The analysis of the representations of these measures, which are found to be multiple, contradictory and not very congruent with the ideals put forth by the institutions themselves, shows the subtlety of the complex interactions between the tariff amount, the comprehension of a cultural policy, impact on the representations of museums and monuments and frequent…

Quantum Lower Bound for Graph Collision Implies Lower Bound for Triangle Detection

2015

We show that an improvement to the best known quantum lower bound for GRAPH-COLLISION problem implies an improvement to the best known lower bound for TRIANGLE problem in the quantum query complexity model. In GRAPH-COLLISION we are given free access to a graph $(V,E)$ and access to a function $f:V\rightarrow \{0,1\}$ as a black box. We are asked to determine if there exist $(u,v) \in E$, such that $f(u)=f(v)=1$. In TRIANGLE we have a black box access to an adjacency matrix of a graph and we have to determine if the graph contains a triangle. For both of these problems the known lower bounds are trivial ($\Omega(\sqrt{n})$ and $\Omega(n)$, respectively) and there is no known matching upper …

Author Rights vs Self-Archiving in Spanish Scientific Journals

2013

AbstractThe paper analyzes publishers’ copyright policies and self-archiving conditions of Spanish scientific journals. Data are extracted from the directory DULCINEA that contains information of 1318 Spanish journals, of which 775 (61%) allow some form of self-archiving to be about 60% of the post-print version and allowing them 87% of the deposit of the version of record. In 72% of journals the deposit can be performed immediately after publication and in 16% after article acceptance. 72% of the journals are freely available without charge to the user this figure raises up to 86% if free access after an embargo is considered. Only 18% of the journals use Creative Commons licenses. The ado…

Google Earth geo-education resources: A transnational approach from Ireland, Iceland, Finland, and Norway

2012

The Northern Environmental Education Development (NEED) project was a transnational geo-education resource development initiative cooperated by four European countries: Ireland, Finland, Norway, and Iceland. NEED supported the development of novel geological information resources, and the establishment of geoeducation networks in the four project regions. An analysis of the national geography and science curriculum in each region was conducted. This analysis identifi ed which geographic learning skills were common to each curriculum. The development of innovative geographic information system (GIS) resources to help support the development of geographic skills was considered a potentially v…
